Privacy Policy

Pickin30 ("we", "us", "our") operates the Pickin30 mobile application and API (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

By using the Service you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Account & Identity

• Phone number (Firebase Phone OTP sign-in)
• Google account name, email address, and profile photo (Google Sign-In only)
• Display name and avatar URL you provide during onboarding

Preferences & Behaviour

• Content preferences: genres, moods, languages, OTT platforms
• Swipe interactions (interested, not interested, watched)
• Ratings and review text you submit
• Watchlist and watch history
• Region settings and timezone

Device & Technical

• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token for push notifications
• IP address (used only for rate-limiting, not stored permanently)
• Request IDs for error tracing (not linked to personal identity)

• Personalisation — Generate your recommendation feed based on genre affinities, OTT subscriptions, and viewing history.
• Authentication — Verify your identity via Firebase Phone OTP or Google Sign-In.
• Push Notifications — Send new arrival alerts, watchlist availability, and weekly digests via FCM.
• Kids Mode — Filter content appropriately when kids mode is enabled.
• Analytics & Improvement — Aggregate, anonymised usage data helps us improve the recommendation engine.
• Safety — Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and policy violations.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data.

We share data only with:

• Firebase (Google) — Authentication and push notification delivery.
• TMDB — Movie and series metadata. Only content queries are sent; no personal data.
• Watchmode — OTT availability data. No personal data is shared.
• Cloud infrastructure — Hosting, database, and caching services under confidentiality agreements.
• Law enforcement — Only when required by valid legal process.

Your data is stored on servers in secured data centres. We implement the following safeguards:

• All data in transit is encrypted with TLS 1.2+.
• Database passwords are hashed using bcrypt.
• API endpoints are rate-limited to prevent abuse.
• Access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel only.

• Active account data is retained for as long as your account exists.
• When you delete your account, your profile is soft-deleted — personal fields are cleared immediately and the record is fully purged after 90 days.
• Aggregated, anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
• You can restore a deleted account by signing in again within the 90-day window.

Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to:

• Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction — Update inaccurate data via the Profile settings in the app.
• Deletion — Delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account.
• Portability — Request an export of your data in a structured format.
• Objection — Opt out of non-essential processing (e.g., turn off push notifications).

Pickin30 is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

The Kids Mode feature filters content for young viewers but does not change the account-holder age requirements.

The app uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policy:

• Firebase / Google — Authentication & push notifications
• TMDB — Movie and series metadata
• Watchmode — OTT streaming availability

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top and notify you via a push notification or in-app banner for material changes.

Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
